311 Stabilized and Non-conforming Finite Element Methods for Variational Inequalities

Various situations in computational mechanics can be modeled with variational inequalities, such as contact, friction, plasticity. Stabilized and non-conforming methods, though well-known for other settings, have been applied only recently to such models, and allow increased flexibility for finite element discretization (non-conforming meshes, no discrete inf-sup condition, etc). This minisymposium will be dedicated to the last trends in this area, and will try to gather both communities of applied mathematics and computational mechanics.
