Polyhedrons (polygons in 2D) occur extensively in nature. Finite elements based on such mesh structures have been found in the literature. They offer highly computational efficiency and are more flexibility in mesh design for arbitrary geometries. Moreover, adaptive polygonal and polyhedral finite elements have been increasingly interested in various engineering applications. This mini-symposium aims at highlighting both theoretical and applicable aspects of adaptive polygonal and polyhedral finite elements. There is no limit to multidisciplinary research topics in computational mechanics.
