This minisymposium aims to provide a platform to discuss recent advances on the smoothed finite element methods (S-FEMs), the smoothed point interpolation methods (S-PIMs), and other related methods.
Various other methods using strain smoothing or gradient smoothing techniques are also of interest, including the locking-free tetrahedral elements, superconvergent low-order elements, pressure checkerboarding suppression under near incompressibility, control of contact force oscillation, and long-lasting large deformation.
Mathematics in weaken-weak (W2) formulation and so on in solid/fluid mechanics, acoustics, heat transfer etc. will also be discussed.
